A signed presentation copy, inscribed by Eiseley to Karl Greenwood Miller and his wife, Verna. Miller, a professor of psychology at the University of Pennsylvania from 1937-1960, was a friend and colleague of Eiseley. At the time of his death in 1977, Eiseley was the Benjamin Franklin Professor of Anthropology and History of Science at Penn, first joining the faculty in 1943 as Chair of the Anthropology department.
Loosely laid in is a card from Eiseley and his wife, Mabel, to the Millers, approx. 75 words written in Mabel's hand.
