Large 4to, vellum spine, marbled boards, top-edge gilt, gilt titling. Six chapters on early bookmaking including discussions of 12 early types of book material, writing on vellum, paper and libraries.
Prior owner's bookplate, spine unevenly darkened else a fine and tight copy in a plain, heavy, nearly fine dust wrapper with some slight chipping to top spine and one small wrinkle. Original slipcase split along top front, top spine, and 4" on side spine.
