Maschler was head of publishing company Jonathan Cape (which partnered with the original Goliard Press to form the Cape Goliard imprint) and was the photographer for the dust jacket and interior photos of Ginsberg. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eWarmly inscribed by Tom Maschler in 1981 as a farewell gift to Liz Knights, his secretary, on her leaving to join publisher Victor Gollancz.\u003c\/strong\u003e While one publisher described Knights' time with Maschler as \"a trial by fire if ever there was one\", Maschler was clearly fond of her: \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\"\u003cem\u003eDear Liz. The white dot on the hill on the cover is Carney \u003c\/em\u003e[the name of Maschler's cottage where Ginsberg was staying]\u003cem\u003e, which is very special to me. And so are you, dear Liz.
