New York, 1929. Limited Edition of 172/861 copies. Signed by the author.
Additionally, inscribed by the publisher Crosby Gaige to FCR (Frank C Reilly). Gaige started his own publishing house in 1927 at the suggestion of Bennett Cerf of Random House. Over the next two years Gaige published 22 titles and several leading authors, including James Joyce, Virginia Woolf, Joseph Conrad and William Butler Yeats. In addition to being a publisher, Gaige was a Broadway producer and author of books on food and cocktails.
Like Gaige, Frank C Reilly was involved in Broadway theater, mostly as a producer and writer.
Reilly's Tiffany's designed bookplate on front pastedown. Pictorial boards, no dust wrapper as issued. Boards are toned, edges rubbed with some loss of material. About very good.
Gaige's signature on books from his publishing house is uncommon.
